Back in the USA

We’re here. It’s been a little over a week. The suitcases are all put away, and we’re almost on a regular schedule. We still need to visit some family before we can really get into “real” life.

We’ll be living with my parents outside of Philadelphia for the indefinite future. My husband’s work is only part time, but it’s a good flexible job and he needs to continue with it since his students are counting on him to keep teaching his online foreign language classes. He is also able to continue his ministry from here of encouraging pastors and church leaders around the globe through email, messaging, and Skype. Our other income is from EP and especially Genesis Curriculum.

We will be in the States for at least a year and a half, but I think it could be much longer. We do want to get back overseas, but we’re not going to go just for the sake of going. God will have to give us new direction to do so. He obviously arranged things to get us here, so we are being content with that. Starting next year we’ll be moving into a new phase of parenting with a child entering college. It is a relief that it looks like we won’t have to send a child off to another continent for school! But maybe this will be a season in the States while we see kids through this transition to college.

I, of course, would love to have our own home. (I’m turning 40 this year and have never owned a home.) However, we don’t want to live in debt so that we can be free to go if the Lord sends us. We’re first saving up for a car before we can even think about a home!

Thank you to everyone praying for us. It’s a big transition to the States, and it’s a big change of lifestyle and culture. Pray for us to find meaningful ways to minister as a family here. I don’t want my kids to lose their understanding of how others live by being sheltered in suburbia. I don’t want my kids to forget that we’re rich compared to the rest of the world.

Here’s a video walking down the street to visit our friends in Macedonia. We visited them at least once a week. When we lived in Macedonia previously, we lived in this Roma (Gypsy) community. This was normal to my kids. (At the end I’m trying to show how there are several doors. There are four families living behind that one gate we entered through. Each door is a different family’s home. Each home may have one or two rooms. Some homes on the street house multiple families.)

Welcome back to United States. Yes, the Lord puts us where He wants us to be, all according to His plan.

I don’t know about the rest of the students and parents but I for one would love to be the first to say, welcome home! My daughter and I use EP and she does awesome with it all. I homeschool her and she just loves all the interaction we do and have in each course. I also want to say thank you so much for sharing all this with us. You all have truly been a blessing for us. May God bless you all and continue to guide you down His path that He has chosen for you all.

Welcome back! God bless you and your family as you transition. As wife and mother of a retired military family, I can relate to the adjustment challenges. Give yourself and each other grace during this time.

    Blessings,
    Vanessa

Welcome back to America. Thank you for Easy Peasy. My son will be starting high school in September and I’m counting on EP to see us through the next four years.

Thanks so much for sharing this video. I pray you ease into life here and that your adjustment will be peaceful. We are just starting out with EP but we have already been blessed with what you have created. Thanks so much!

Wow, what a mix of poor and seems to be richer in one street. It looks like the community loves each other. Thank you for the video. All of the best for everything back in America. I hear and feel your heart that your kids should always remember not to feel rich. I have the same attitude with our kids. Lots of Blessings from South Africa

Peace and blessings, I want to give thanks for all you and your family share with the world. I am a Philadelphia resident and you will definitely be able to experience a very “third world” experience in many parts of our city. There are numerous ministering opportunities. As the city grows it has increasingly displaced our homeless communities. Especially in center city. I am a woman of color who has lived abroad and is used to diversity. The number of young white homeless people is staggering. I don’t know if its just drugs, the economy or what. Port Richmond and Kensington area (probably more) are hotbeds for sex slavery. I give God the glory yet sometimes I feel sad and overwhelmed in all the ways I want to serve and be a light in the darkness. My apologies for venting. I know sin is not unique to Philly but I moved home 5 years ago after living outside the state’s for 3 years. It was Soooo different, it’s a sign of the days we are in. Keep up the good fight and Gods blessings on you all.

So glad you guys are getting settled. Don’t worry too much about a house of your own…He’s planning a mansion for you. And He’s not done with you guys. You are still youngsters with a lot of time yet to accomplish much wherever.

I have been truly blessed by your faithfulness and the writing of Easy Peasy. Unfortunately, our kids (we are their grandparents and maybe because we’re too trusting and old,) we didn’t supervise enough and had to put them back into public school. But we want to send u a small token of our deep appreciation ($100) if you will let us know where.

Meanwhile we will keep you guys in prayer as u decide what your next step should be. If you are in CA please contact our church. It is a mission church and has many homeschoolers. It is Rolling Hills Covenant Church in Rolling Hills, CA. And, if you’re near we’d love to have you for dinner.

Here are our kids practicing today for the program on the 10th

We want to welcome you back! Our family loves EP, we have been very blessed by you and your time. I know you want to continue serving the Lord, and I would like to say even though America seems “rich” we are a very broke nation when it comes to the knowledge of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Perhaps you are back here for the same reason you were overseas, to change someone’s eternity. May God bless you.
    With Love,
    The Burton Family

Prayers, and welcome back home!! Your family is such a blessing. May God continue to prepare your hearts and minds to fear and glorify his name! May you all grow in trusting Him, for He sees, and hears those who fear him and seek His wisdom! Thank you for your labor of love so we can homeschool! EP was an answer of crying night after night when God called us to homeschool our daughter.
    The Lord bless your hearts!

Dear Lee, I will continue to pray for you and your family. The adjustment will be great and your children will be in my prayers. God is in control of it all, all the time. We appreciate you greatly, and want you to know your labors have not been in vain.

Oh The Giles Family, I pray the transition is easy. Also, I pray that this can be a time of refreshment and refocus as sometimes Satan attacks our Missionaries who are traveling abroad! Praying for your family! `Praying for new and old relationships!

Welcome back to the States. Thank you for the wonderful Easy Peasy curriculum. My little girl flew through GR1 and GR2 in 1 year. She started Level 1 and slowed down a bit. I am glad she did. She had me on my toes everyday. I couldn’t get my reg daily chores done. She loves EP. Thank you for the great video. Amazing diversity in each home on the outside. Since coming across EP, our family has had you in our daily prayers for your safety and Gods will on your family. You have blessed us in our prayers for you, the curriculum you provide, and your dedication to our Lord

Just wanted to send out a heart felt thank you. After stumbling upon your curriculum during a web search all of my fears have been laid to rest. We CAN do this! Your wonder website is designed for navigating with such ease, being neither overwhelming nor gimmicky. I can not tell you how much I appreciate all the work you have put into what is so obviously a great labor of love.

Welcome back! I’ve lived overseas twice (Peru) with my family so I know some of the adjustments and transitions you might be experiencing. I know your family is a blessing to many and you will naturally continue to be a positive influence on your friends, neighbors, family and others no matter where you live. Best wishes as you continue to serve God and be His hands here on earth. 💛

I am so grateful for you and EP. But I am also grateful for the boldness that your family has to go out into the world and do God’s work AND allowing me to watch a little bit. That video is so interesting! I could ask many questions, but for now I will just tell you “thank you” again. It’s interesting to me that God would lead you back to the states now, just before and election, with so many of us thinking more than ever of moving abroad. Prayers for all of you!

We don’t know the “why” of the time, but it must be “for such a time as this.”
