Course Description
Students will be learning two memory verses each week. They will earn pieces to a code along the way. The verses can be learned in any translation and are linked to a site which has the verse in many translations. Daily they should recite their verse out loud. On the last day of the week, they should recite their verse to someone else if that’s an option. There will be spaced review of the verses. Level 2 uses the same verses as Level 1 but adds a second verse to each one so that they will get them more solidified by learning them again. BONUS: Students will also be learning what’s in the books of the Bible with a video by everyone’s favorite, Mr. G.
Lesson 1
- You are going to be receiving one message each week. Your job is to lock it safe in your heart! These are some of the most important messages you’ll ever hear. They can even save your life! Learn them well and keep them safe.
- When you have learned your verse, on the last day of the week, you will receive a piece of code. Keep a paper or notebook where you will keep your code. One suggestion is to get a mini notebook (20 sheets of paper will do) and write the reference along with the number and code piece each week.
- Your job is to say the verses at least once each day without looking. Say it with the reference like this, “Genesis 1:1-5 (Then the verses.) Genesis 1:1-5.”
- You could make a habit of saying your verses one time at each meal to practice a few times a day, or do it at least just once a day. A slow and steady approach is better than saying it a bunch on just one day.
- I can spend a couple of hours a day on Scripture memory. I learn whole chapters at once. I love having God’s word locked safe in my heart. I hope this is the beginning of a lifelong love of learning and keeping God’s Word.
- Genesis 1:1-5 You will have to choose your translation each day on this level.
- Review the books of the Old Testament.
Lesson 2
- Genesis 1:1-5 Choose your translation you are going to use and then stick with it.
- I’ve talked about the first two verses on the previous Scripture Memory courses, so I will try to stick to the new verses for my commentary on this course. The interesting thing about “Let there be light” is that the sun and other stars aren’t created until the fourth day. There’s another light shining into the universe and it bring separation from the darkness.
- That reminds me of John 1:4-5. “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”
- Review the books of the Old Testament.

Lesson 6
- Philippians 4:4-9
- How to not be anxious? You don’t just pray. There’s something else we’re to do. We’re to give thanks. You don’t just list your problems for God. You put them in His hands and thank Him for taking care of those things and for taking care of you as you go through dealing with all those things. You give thanks. Thanksgiving is the antidote for many things.
- You will start getting a Scripture for review. Is the message still safe? Genesis 1:1-5

- Jesus relates that to Himself. He is lifted up on the cross. Whoever looks to Him, will be saved. How is Jesus like a serpent, when Satan was the serpent in the Garden of Eden? Jesus became sin on the cross! He took all the yuck there ever was onto Himself.

He makes alive with Christ and seats us with Christ in the heavenly places. That’s your place. Imagine yourself seated next to Jesus, who, by the way, is seated at the right hand of the Father. - Philippians 2:12-15
- These are some famous verses but can sound confusing. God saves us. How can we work out our own salvation? That doesn’t make sense. In the translation I linked to, verses 12 and 13 are one sentence, so let’s keep them together. It’s God who does the willing and the working in us. God puts in us the wanting to do the right thing and works that we will do the right thing. If God is working to make sure we do the right thing, then why is there fear and trembling? We’re only supposed to fear one thing. Do you know what? Or, I should say who? God. We fear God. Our fear is before God. We are totally reliant on Him for everything. You don’t live through the day if He says otherwise. We are reliant on Him to do the right thing. We need Him. Know how much you need God, but also know how good and faithful and trustworthy He is. Put your life in His hands to work it out according to His pleasure.

Lesson 146
- Romans 3:22-26 This is one sentence! You may want to consider another translation for this one, but let me try to break it down for you.
- God is showing His justice by taking the penalty for our sin, being the propitiation for our sin – the payment for our sin to satisfy justice. In doing so He shows us His righteousness. He knows the right thing and does it. Jesus is the right thing! God defines what is right! But it was the right thing to offer a perfect sacrifice to cover sin because wrongdoing demands justice. There were sins “overlooked” that had to be dealt with, because in reality, God cannot overlook sin. It has to be dealt with in some way. Jesus dealt with it on the cross.

Judah is the southern kingdom with Jerusalem and the good kings. The northern kingdom only ever had bad kings. The bad kings are proud. The bricks are fallen (God’s judgment), but we will rebuild even better. This verse was famously used after 9/11 by several politicians. They were trying to use biblical inspiration, but unthinkingly they were speaking in proud defiance of God!

Lesson 156
- Psalm 27:1-4
- A whole army may encamp against me, but I will not fear. David had armies after him. They wanted nothing more than to kill him. So, what did David seek? Not strength or weapons or a bigger army for himself. He sought the Lord’s beauty and wisdom. He just wanted to be with God. Don’t “meditate” like the world. Don’t copy the world. Here’s a picture of Biblical meditation. Sit quietly in the Lord’s presence and look at His beauty and ask Him questions. Talk with Him.
