Third Grade

I keep getting lots of questions about third grade, so I went ahead and put up what I have so far. Math is complete for the whole year, but I am still working on English. I have 60 days posted. I’m going to keep working on it every day as I can. I am sure there are typos and problems since my family hasn’t used it and fixed it up yet, but I hope it will help those of you who need it now.

Baby Nathaniel

Sorry I haven’t informed you before about baby Nathaniel. I posted about him on facebook. If you would like more frequent updates, join us on our facebook page.

Nathaniel is my 6th child. He was born at 29 weeks by emergency c-section two weeks ago. He’s in the NICU. I have actually only seen him once since he was born. Today he was transferred to another hospital with greater specialty in the care he needs. He’s in an isolation room, all alone. I am allowed to come in and touch him once a day. Hopefully I’ll be able to do that starting tomorrow. I’m still sore from the c-section, but I’m moving better than before. I’m only on Ibuprofen for pain relief.

I’m checking the email each day, but I’m not spending a lot of time on the computer right now. Every course for this year is already finished, so I am thankful there is no work for me piling up. Any course/level you’ve started on the site is already complete.

My parents are coming just after Christmas and will be staying awhile. The kids will love getting the attention that I’m not giving them right now.

We appreciate your prayers.

Super Teacher Worksheets and new courses

PLEASE let me know if you find a worksheet at superteacher.com that requires payment. When I first put up those worksheets, it was a free site. Now you have to pay for most of their materials. I would NEVER ask you to pay for something. Please DON’T pay for a subscription. Please DO write me and let me know, so I can put a free worksheet in its place. There’s no way for me to scroll through and know which worksheets are from that site. I need your help to find them so that they can be replaced.

Thanks for taking the time to do that!

Also, I have just finished math for the third level. I am also finishing up year 2 and you’ll start see those links going up.

Sneak Peek at High School

For anyone who has looked at the high school page, I wanted to show you how one of those courses could be used. I’ve started using the 9th grade literature and composition online class from Georgia Virtual Learning as a base for my 8th Level English.

I’ve added answer keys for the grammar assignments, grading rubrics, extra reading and assignments, vocabulary and other resources and organized it day by day just like we are used to.

Since it is “officially” a high school level course, it could be counted on a transcript. I’ve made up a simple grade sheet to record grades and list right on the directions each day what to record and guidelines for how to assign grades for writing assignments.

I’m still not going to get to the high school courses for awhile. It’s still at least a year away, but this will give you an idea of how we can use those online courses.

As you look through the curriculum, anywhere it says “Read page 4 about…” is a link to the online curriculum. I can only link to the main page of each unit, so I always have to write what page to go to.
