Wronged

Paul rebukes the church members for taking each other to court. He says the church should have the wisdom to be able to decide between brothers. But there’s a higher way than that.

Paul says they have already been defeated by wanting to go to court. He says, “Why not rather suffer wrong?”

Paul sees it as more righteous to take the loss rather than pursuing your “right.” We become slaves in Christ. We are not our own. We need to let go of our “rights” to ourselves and our things. They belong to the Lord.

I should remind you here that Paul does use his rights as a Roman citizen on a couple of occasions. But he doesn’t claim his “rights” as an apostle to avoid working another job.

Paul continues with a warning. Don’t be deceived! The unrighteous don’t inherit God’s kingdom.

It does matter how we live! We are saved by grace, not by works, but our faith isn’t that we can keep sinning and still go to heaven. Our faith is that God gives us a new heart that wants the things of God and chooses what is good and right.

Paul reminds them that they were washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of Jesus. We are saved by faith. By faith we are clean. By faith we are holy. By faith we stand righteous before God.

It’s His work to save us. We just believe we are saved. But faith works. If we believe we are righteous, we live righteous!

You become one with the one you join yourself to. Join yourself to the Lord, become one spirit with Him. Your body is for the Lord. Don’t give it to anyone outside of God’s choice for you, your spouse.

You are not your own. You were bought with a price. Glorify God with your body.
