Who Are At Ease

One of the descriptions of those who are getting the warning of “woe!” is those who invent for themselves musical instruments like David.

That struck me and I had to think for a moment.

David made musical instruments for God, to sing praises to God. That was the point of the music. That’s the point of music! It’s a praise to God. Music in nature glorifies God.

To make instruments for yourself is glorifying man, making music for man’s satisfaction rather than God’s.

Everything is from God and for God. Anything directed elsewhere has been misappropriated and is outside of God’s ordained design for our lives.

Does any of the description of those at ease, who are being “woe-d” sound familiar? They lounge on couches. They are drinking wine luxuriously and put on scented oils, use the best ointments.

They are also described as celebrating their own strength. They celebrated their accomplishments.

Sound like people we might know?

We need to recognize the God of our strength. We have accomplished nothing on our own. If God does not ordain it, it won’t come to pass. We have because God has given it to us and allowed us to have it.

He gave us everything we needed to get it if there was any effort on our part. It’s all a gift from Him and we need to recognize His blessing in our lives.

He let us wake up today. You wouldn’t have accomplished anything if He hadn’t given you your life today, your health, a functioning brain, the resources needed, etc. It’s all from Him! Acknowledge your God. Thank and praise Him. Make Him big! Make yourself small.

God is happy to bless us with material gifts and not just spiritual gifts, but we have to recognize the danger in it and why He can’t just lavish millions of dollars on all His kids. It would be the death of us. It’s hard to have and not fall into ease and comfort. When we have, it’s so we can be a blessing to others. We don’t live not ourselves.
