To walk worthy of our calling in Christ means to maintain unity in the Body of Christ. There is just one Spirit, one Lord, one Faith, one God.
We maintain unity through humility, gentleness, and patience. Because we love one another, we bear with one another.
We maintain unity by serving one another. We receive gifts, but they are for the Body, not for ourselves. The leader gifts, such as for evangelists, pastors, and teachers, are meant to be used to equip everyone else to do their ministry in Christ. We all have a ministry. It may be caring for the least of these through tutoring or visiting or feeding or offering help. It may be cleaning up. There are any number of creative ways God can use you. We serve the Lord day and night, every day.
There is a purpose to our lives. It’s not our betterment. We live for others because we live for Christ. Jesus gave His life for us. We give our lives for Him.
We’re not just trying to get ourselves the knowledge of God; we’re working until the Body has the unity of faith and of the knowledge of God. We’re not out to get for ourselves. We’re after getting faith and knowledge of God for everyone.
If the Church doesn’t have that faith and knowledge, they are going to be tossed to and fro. They will be deceived.
We need to be loving each other so that we’re building each other up; and as we do that, we’ll be building up the Body of Christ.
We love by choosing to be renewed in the spirit of our minds, feeding on Scripture, and taking thoughts captive. We say no to the old man and selfish and sinful and worldly desires, and we choose God’s ways. We say no to anger and yes to forgiveness. We say no to theft and yes to generosity and work. We say no to lying and yes to honesty.
We walk worthy because we walk in Christ, the One Who is worthy.
