Simple Sentences
A simple sentence is made up of a subject and one verb, and together they are a complete thought.
Obed is eating dinner with his family.
Compound Sentences
A compound sentence is made up of two complete sentences, but they are connected to one another with a conjunction. Some of these conjunctions are:
- and
- but
- or
Example:
It was late, but they were leisurely eating dinner.
Complex Sentences
A complex sentence is made up of a sentence and another subject and verb that’s not a complete thought.
These sentences use a different type of conjunction. It uses words such as:
- because
- if
- when
- while
- until
