To Make a Separation

There’s to be a separation between the holy and the common. There’s a wall there.

The holy is separated unto God. He is holy and set apart. The common things are of a lower degree and are shared amongst people. Not only is God above all, but He is unique. He is not common.

God had a wall built in the temple to separate the common from the holy. The priests were to leave their holy garments in the holy place. The holy didn’t get to go out among the people.

We are to be a holy people. We’re to be set apart. Our churches are to be holy and set apart. While maybe you could use your church building for outreaches and use something like watching The Chosen on a weeknight to have dialogue with those outside of the church, the family gathering at church is a holy, set apart affair.

We shouldn’t be inviting the world into the church. We don’t need to be showing movie clips and popular memes in our services. It’s the world and its place isn’t in the church. There are lots of ways the world creeps into the church. Some are subtle, some not.

God calls us to be holy. He makes us holy. We are both perfected once and for all and are being perfected (Hebrews 10:14).

We are made holy and separated from the world, sin, and self, and separated unto God. We are seated with Him in the heavenly places. We are united with Christ in His death and resurrection. He welcomes us into the holy even though that means there’s something in common.

Believers have holy in common with each other and with God, if we abide in the Holy Spirit. We are one in Christ Jesus, common in our holiness.
