They Will Know

God is going to put an end to Egypt’s wealth and destroy their idols. Why does God pour out His fierce fury? “Then they will know that I am the Lord.” He wants to be known. Why?

What’s the heart of God?

He’s not a megalomaniac that is in love with power. He loves people. He wants them to know Him because to know Him is eternal life. He desires salvation. He desires life. That’s who God is.

God is going to strengthen the arm of Babylon and break the arm of Egypt. It is so “they will know that I am the Lord.”

See our lives as in the hands of God. One, we should put our lives into His hands. Surrender your life over if you haven’t. All of it. No ifs, ands, or buts. Do it.

See God behind all the circumstances of your life. Then all your troubles become a gift because behind them is a heart that wants you to know your God and Savior, one who desires your salvation and is working for it.

When we see God as ultimately behind our circumstances, we can be grateful. “Give thanks in all circumstances,” we’re told. This is why we can do that. God is in control of those circumstances. He is working for our good, for our salvation, and for the salvation of all His people. We want Him doing that work and we offer our lives up to the process.

When we run to the world, to Egypt, for our help and salvation, we’re trying to thwart God’s good and perfect plans. Run to God. He is your salvation.
