Then You Will Know

Why does God do what He does? Does God have a short fuse? No, God is patient. When he sends out His wrath, it’s not because He ran out of love. God is love and love is patient.

Does God just get too frustrated and can’t handle that we can’t get it right? No, God is compassionate. He knows we are but dust. He knows we will sin. When He established the whole system of atonement, He created it so that it always covered unintentional sin. It was never about us never sinning.

Is God just too perfect and can’t stand our imperfection? No, Jesus came to seek and save the lost. He took on flesh and lived among man. He got into the mix. He loves humans. While we were children of wrath and enemies of God and full of sin, He died for us. He loves us even in our humanness.

Why does God pour out wrath on people He created to love? They certainly weren’t created to be destroyed. God doesn’t plot evil. God does, however, love His enemies. If you want to know how God treats His enemies, besides dying for them on the cross, just think about Jesus washing Judas’ feet on the night Judas was going to betray him.

God tells us again and again why He pours out judgment and wrath. “Then you will know that I am the Lord.”

God was saying it back when He was pouring out the plagues on Egypt. “Then they will know that I am the Lord.”

God wants to be known. Why? Is He so big on Himself that He needs people looking up to Him?

No, God is love. Love does not seek His own. He’s the purest person ever.

God wants to be known because to know Him is eternal life (John 17:3). He wants to be known because He wants people saved. His desire is for all to be saved and for all to come to repentance.

The point Jesus gives us about the parable of the 100 sheep and one gets lost is heaven rejoices over someone who comes into life.

God loves the sinner who repents. He rejoices over the sinner who repents. Jesus lived and died for the sinner who would repent. That’s the joy of heaven.

Never forget the heart of God behind these awful things we can read. God loves people because God loves because God is love.
