In Ezekiel 27 we have a description of Tyre. They have great wealth, and the merchants of other nations trade with her.
There is no description of sin, of idolatry, of killing innocent children, etc. It just talks about their merchandise and splendor.
The only hint we have at sin is in the beginning in verse three, where it says, “‘I am perfect in beauty.”
Discernment 101: when something is attributed a Godlike quality it’s from satan, not God.
Only God is perfect in His beauty.
Seeing yourself as perfect in your beauty is attributing to yourself a Godlike quality. Warning!
Discernment 102: when something is turning your attention onto yourself (or anything else) and away from God, that’s satan, not God.
Distraction is a big tool of satan’s. He wants you looking away from God. “Look to Me and be saved…” (Isaiah 45:22). Satan doesn’t want our salvation. He wants us distracted.
Looking at your own beauty is looking at self. Self is not savior. Warning!
Where do we see these things today? Certainly the Word of Faith doctrine attributes Godlike power to humans as if we could speak things into being. It’s a false doctrine.
Inner healing prayer, looking for doors you opened to satan, etc. all that stuff is false teaching. We look to Jesus for our salvation. You aren’t going to find it looking at self, at your past, at satan and what he’s done, etc.
Have discernment. Have the fear of the Lord. Don’t seek after anything but God. He’s your place of safety. He’s your place of truth. He is your salvation.
