The Cost of the Lie

The false prophets of the Lord seem, for the most part, to believe they are prophets of the Lord. They aren’t necessarily making things up. They could have a spirit telling them what to say, just not the Holy Spirit.

How much does this happen today? A whole lot. The church is under many deceptions.

There are those who are displaying obvious signs of demonic activity, but they claim it’s from the Lord and are excited about what the Lord is doing. But God’s not there.

Congregations gather with their lighting design and fog machines and night-club loud music and they claim with excitement that God is in the house. He’s not.

People claim healing and deliverance in the name of the Lord, but He’s not in it. I know people who tell the stupidest testimonies of healings and miracles. There’s nothing going on! If there’s any little token of change, they celebrate the healing. As far as I’m concerned it’s demons playing games with them. God heals. I’ve heard a man talking about casting demons out of the same woman week after week like she was so spiritual. Um. No. A godly woman is full of the Holy Spirit and there is no darkness at all in her! It was just demons playing games and making people feel like they were part of cool spiritual things and had power when they were just prey to Satan’s deception.

There are those on the other side who have made idols out of Christian service and Bible knowledge. They serve to glorify themselves and separate themselves from the rest of the Body by their knowing what is good and right and knowing everyone else is wrong.

There are those given over to popularity and marketing and softening the word of God to bring in more people. It’s a deception. They celebrate their growth ignoring the verse saying it’s in vain if the Lord isn’t doing it.

What’s the cost of celebrating the Lord and serving Him when He’s not in it? Not finding the truth. If you are given over to a lie to believe it’s true, you are no longer seeking the truth. You think you’ve found it. But if you aren’t seeking, you aren’t finding. Being given over is a dangerous place for a Christian. There is hope, of course, but it’s a dangerous spot to be in.
