That your beloved ones may be delivered, give salvation by your right hand and answer us!

Psalm 60:5

Oh, grant us help against the foe, for vain is the salvation of man!

Psalm 60:11

We need salvation from God. Help from man is in vain. That includes ourselves.

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Galatians 2:20

I would say this is my most oft-quoted verse. We look to ourselves to save ourselves in any number of situations, but we make poor saviors; we make worse gods.

We know that faith is a grace gift from God, like everything. I don’t live by my faith that I got from God, and now I get to go use. I live by His faith that He puts in me for His purposes. I don’t live by my strength. I don’t ask God for strength so that I can then be strong and do whatever it is. I live in weakness, so that I rely on His strength in me to do the work, whatever it is. I don’t ask for help loving others. I ask for His love poured into me to pour out to others. It’s all Him. No one needs us. They need Jesus.
