The bride is seeking the one she loves, but she does not find him.
She’s seeking him on her bed. She’s expecting him to be there with her, but he’s not.
We have a tendency to treat God like we expect Him to just always be there, just hanging around for when we decide we want to talk to Him.
Revelation 3:20 is Jesus talking to the church, to believers. He says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”
He’s outside. He’s not there in the bed. He would love to join you, but you have to let Him in. We shut Him out when we choose sin and the world over Him. We shut Him out when we turn to idols. We turn to replacements for Christ for our peace, our joy, our comfort, our pleasure, our protection, our provision, and on and on.
He’s right there, willing and able to be your all in all, but you have to choose Him. Seek Him until you find Him.
She rises up from her bed and looks for Him.
Do you get up out of bed in the morning and seek after your Love?
I used to get out of bed by saying, “Only ‘cause I love you.” I could make the choice to drag myself out of bed at four in the morning because I loved Him. There was no other reason I would do it (without a baby crying or something!) But for love of God, I would do it.
He has since taught me to delight in coming to Him and I can thank Him when I wake up in the morning, no matter how early. I can delight in getting out of bed in the wee, wee hours because He’s calling me to Himself. He wants to be with me and I want to be with Him.
She seeks and finds her love. Don’t just read your Bible or devotional book to check off that you’ve done it. Stay there and pursue until you’ve connected. Find Him. He wants to be found by you.
Think of the woman with the issue of blood in the thick crowd. It must have been hard to get down low and move in the crowd to be able to reach out and touch the hem of Jesus’ robe. She pursued. She found salvation.
