God’s people were always saved by faith. Abraham was not righteous by works. The Bible says that he believed God. That’s how he was credited with righteousness.
Righteousness is a gift. Faith is a gift. Salvation is a gift.
If we worked for our salvation, we would receive no gift, just our due payment. And we could never do enough work to be due heaven and eternal glory.
Our only way to heaven is through The Way, through faith in Jesus Christ. He is the only one who is good, who is worthy, who is righteous before God.
In Christ Jesus we live in the blessing of our sins being forgiven and forgotten, tossed into the depths of the ocean, blotted out of God’s record book, out of sight for all eternity.
Again, in speaking of Jews and Gentiles, Paul points out that Abraham was counted as righteous before he was circumcised. He is the father of all believers in the one true God.
Jews saying it’s impossible for a Jew to believe in Jesus haven’t read the Bible. It’s all Jewish and it all points to Jesus, from Genesis all the way to the very end.
Salvation is open to all through faith and it is fully dependent on the grace of God. Our rest is in the promise of this perfect gift from God that we can do nothing to earn.
It is God alone who gives salvation. It is God alone who gives life. It is God alone that calls things into existence. It is all God’s work alone.
Our job is to recognize it’s all God and give God all the glory.
Abraham gave God glory and was convinced that God was able to do what He promised.
We can stand righteous before God by faith in God, the one who raised Jesus from the dead, the one who was killed for our sins and raised again so that we could receive His life and stand blameless before the throne of God.
