Rightly Instructed

How does God take care of us?

In Isaiah 27, we read about God taking care of his vine so that no one hurts it.

You may feel like there has been something that hurt you. How was God taking care of you?

We are “rightly instructed,” Isaiah 28:26 says, because God teaches us.

He’s a perfect teacher. One of the best ways to learn is through experience.

One of the ways God perfectly teaches and trains us is through hardships and suffering.

We’re told that dill is beaten out with a stick and cumin with a rod. There had to be a beating to get out what was useful and sustaining!

But, we’re given the hope that God does not thresh it forever. He’s only going to allow what is needful.

Can we trust Him in that?

Yes! He is perfect. The chapter closes with saying that God is wonderful in counsel and excellent in wisdom. He knows what He is doing.

When we face the trial, the trouble, the hardship, the suffering, our first reaction is how do I stop this? How do I get out of here?

But we’re told that whoever believes in the Precious Cornerstone and Sure Foundation of Jesus Christ will not be in haste. We won’t be in a hurry. We can trust God and wait. It will pass because we know that He will not thresh forever.

Jesus had to go through a threshing. He was literally beaten. God, His loving, devoted, adoring Father, chose that for His Son because that was the best, the perfect choice.

We can trust Him with our lives because He created them. He knows our purpose. He knows what He can get out of us that we would never find in ourselves on our own.

God is a good teacher, the perfect teacher.

Let Him teach you precept upon precept, line upon line.
