From Psalm 86

David asks of the Lord:

answer me, preserve my life, save your servant, be gracious to me, gladden the soul of your servant.

He gives reasons why the Lord should answer:

for I am poor and needy, for I am godly, for I trust in you, you are my God, for to you do I cry all the day, for to you I lift up my soul.

He gives reasons why he seeks these things from the Lord:

for you are good and forgiving, for you are abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you, for you answer me, for there is none like you among the gods nor are there any works like yours, for you are great and do wondrous things, you alone are God, for great is your steadfast love toward me, for you have delivered my soul from the depths.

What are you seeking? Why are you turning to God? If you are calling on Him to answer, are you waiting on Him to answer because you know who He is and what He’s done? Or are you just looking for what you want without trusting faith that He is willing and able to help?
