October 12

The people sought “the word of the Lord.” They offered sacrifices. They thought they were servants of God, but they listened to false prophets and their sacrifices were an abomination. They didn’t need to fear their enemies. They needed to fear God. What are you afraid of?

Jeremiah 21:5, 7 …I Myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger and fury and great wrath.…I will deliver…the people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence and the sword and the famine,…into the hand of their enemies…

But even in His anger, He still offers His people a choice.

vs. 8 …“Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death.”

We live with a choice; we can walk in the light or in the darkness. It’s determined by what we fear most.

1 Thess. 5:4, 9 But you, … are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
