No Condemnation

Why are we not condemned in Christ? Because the requirement of the law is fulfilled in those who don’t walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

There is condemnation for those walking in the flesh. If you are walking in the flesh, you are in the flesh and not in Christ. Only in Christ are we free from sin and its consequences.

How do we know if we are walking in the flesh or in the Spirit? We’re told. Those walking in the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, and those who live in the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.

It all starts in the mind. That’s why the mind is a battlefield. That’s why we renew our minds and feed on the Scriptures, memorizing and meditating on them. That’s why we fill our hearts with songs of praise and give thanks in every circumstance.

The mind set on the Spirit is life and peace. If you are lacking peace, your mind is on the flesh.

Bring your mind into submission to God’s word and your flesh will follow. The Lord taught me that my job was my mind and that His job was my feelings. I wasn’t to deal with the feelings. I was to work on the thoughts.

But the truth is, there is no victory outside of Christ. Yes, I memorize Scripture. A lot. Yes, I listen to Scripture music and worship music. A lot. Yes, I read the Bible and talk to God. A lot. But I can’t win the battle for the mind or that battle over sin. It’s the Lord’s victory.

By faith we remember we’re dead to the old man of sin and alive in Christ in His righteousness, and we say no. It’s that simple. No to temptation. I’m dead to that.

Jesus is our way out, our way of escape. Call on Him to rescue you. He is a perfect Savior. When my thoughts are attacked, I can call out, “Help me, Jesus. I’m drowning!” Confess when you let thoughts get the better of you.

And remember who you are in Christ. There is victory over sin. There is victory, complete, final victory in Christ Jesus. You won’t have to battle that same sin forever. There is victory over sin.
