Make Himself Known

Egypt gets a different prophecy than the others. There will be punishment, but it won’t be a complete destruction. It won’t be a cutting off. It will be a pruning. There will be a remnant.

They get a promise of blessing. They get a promise of joining with Israel in being called the work of God’s hands. That’s what we’re called too, His workmanship.

The Lord will strike Egypt, but He will heal them too. They will return to the Lord, meaning they were His before. God will listen to their cries for mercy and will heal. There are certainly other places in Scripture, such as Psalm 18, where it talks about other peoples crying out to God and He doesn’t answer.

God says He will make Himself known to the Egyptians and the Egyptians will know Him.

Have you thanked God that He revealed Himself to you, that He made Himself known to you? Are you grateful that you know the Lord? It’s only because He allowed you to know Him. Give thanks.

God hears His people when they cry and sends a savior and defender as we’re told He will do for Egypt.

Know the Lord and cry out to Him. You have the God of the universe on the ready to be your help and defender. Ask Him to save you in whatever the circumstance.

But before the Egyptians get all this blessing, they get the fear of the Lord.

The fear of the Lord is foundational. It’s the beginning. If you don’t have it, you haven’t even begun.

God will help them get there. He will come against them so that there is nothing they can do about it but surrender to His will.

Of course, that’s what you want, to be surrendered to His will. Put yourself there in the fear of the Lord. That’s better than God needing to work that fear in you!
