Yet he gave him no inheritance in it, not even a foot’s length, but promised to give it to him as a possession and to his offspring after him, though he had no child.
Acts 7:5 ESV
The phrase “not even a foot” made me smile as I read this. There’s faith. Once there’s sight, there’s no more faith. When I am wanting to see something, I remember this. He wants me believing and trusting when I can’t see. He wants me in faith. Salvation is by faith. Can you believe when you aren’t seeing anything happen?
It’s much better to wait in that place than to try and make something happen. Moses believed God was going to use him as deliverer, but nothing was happening. He tried making it happen.
He supposed that his brothers would understand that God was giving them salvation by his hand…
Acts 7:25 ESV
It ended poorly, but then God redeems it and does it His way and Moses learns only God is really the deliverer and is the meekness man on earth.
Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain…
Psalm 127:1 ESV
All our labors and efforts don’t amount to anything. God has to accomplish the work if it’s going to have lasting impact, a foundation that will withstand the fire.
