…to minister regularly before the ark as each day required…to give thanks to the Lord, for his steadfast love endures forever.

1 Chronicles 16:37, 41 ESV

I removed a bunch in the middle, but I think we can legitimately put these two verse pieces together. I liked the sentiment that each day required ministering before the Lord because of His steadfast love.

That steadfast love word is chesed which you can see translated as mercy, goodness, and loving kindness. My favorite translation of it is loving devotion. I bless His name daily with my thanksgiving and praise and worship and honor because of the loving devotion He shows me and all creation.

Chesed can also be translated kindness.

Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?

Romans 2:4 ESV

God’s kindness was supposed to allow them a chance to come to repentance. They instead took it as a license to sin.

In His mercy God doesn’t strike them all down but shows patience, love. God gave them an inch, and those who live in the flesh took miles and miles. When you live surrendered to the Spirit, God gives you miles and miles but you don’t want to move an inch.
