When Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and put them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat and fastened on his hand.
Acts 28:3 ESV
I had never applied this verse, just only thinking of it literally, until the Lord brought it to mind when I was praying over a different attack we had a few years ago.
…we know that everywhere it is spoken against.”
vs. 22
Someone made up a lie against us which came across as straight up religious persecution. The “bite” was intended to harm, but the Lord used this verse to show me I could just shake it off.
He, however, shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm.
vs. 5
I like that the same hand is then used to heal.
…and putting his hands on him, healed him.
vs. 8
The miracles, the getting to see the gospel change people’s lives, it comes with a cost. To follow Jesus is to know suffering, persecution, hardships. He is worthy of any cost. My heart cry is for Jesus to receive what He paid for with His life.
