…Has any of the gods of the nations ever delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
2 Kings 18:33 ESV
Whenever someone talked smack about God not being able to save, they always sealed their own fate. Hezekiah used that as the basis for His prayer to God.
…[they] mock the living God…save us, that [they] may know that you…are God alone.”
2 Kings 19:16, 19 ESV
He’s asking God to defend His name. I can give you an example of an application of this. In 2018 we were told Nathaniel needed hip surgery. His one hip had deteriorated and the other was almost at the point of needing surgery as well. We were told it couldn’t wait 6 months to the next appointment. We were to come in a few months and he would do the surgery on both hips at once. Then he sealed the fate. He said they only ever deteriorate, that it was “impossible” to improve in any way. I left angry in my spirit. I grumbled the rest of the day, “He can’t say it’s impossible.” I knew God was able.
I didn’t have faith to pray for healing. I would have been faking it, trying to have faith. No need. There’s plenty of truth in the Bible to stand on. Have faith in what you KNOW is true. I KNEW it wasn’t impossible. It wasn’t. It’s been 5 years and he never did have surgery.
