“So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you” (John 16:22, ESV).
Our hearts rejoice when we see Jesus. We’re to always see Jesus. Scriptures such as fix your eyes on Jesus or I have set the Lord always before me, remind us to keep our eyes on Him, to always be looking to Him. We’re to live in a place of knowing the Lord’s constant presence and always seeing Him before us.
This world strives to draw our attention away from Christ. Advertisers know that money is made when they can draw our attention. At every turn, people are hoping to addict us to their products so they have us coming back, turning to their food, or entertainment, or whatever. We need to keep at bay the things that try to draw our attention from Christ. We need to turn from them to Christ.
Our hearts and bodies should need Him alone. Psalm 16:11 says, “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (ESV). When we live in God’s presence, we live in fullness of joy and pleasure, and then no one can take our joy from us.
