Isaiah 14:2

“They will take captive those who were their captors, and rule over those who oppressed them” (Isaiah 14:2, ESV).

This is the heritage of the saint. We were slaves to sin in Satan’s kingdom of darkness. Then, by the blood of Christ, we were transferred into God’s kingdom. He opened the prison doors. He set the captives free. We are no longer slaves to sin. That which once oppressed us, we now rule over. That which once held us captive, we now hold captive. But it’s not our victory. It’s the Lord’s.

He fights the battles. He gets the victories. We get to be still and quiet. We get to trust. We get to choose to let Him fight for us and not turn to other gods to save us. We choose to love and fear Him. He fights on our behalf. He shows Himself strong to save.

When the feelings arise that want to draw or push you into something, you remember your choice. Declare it again. I choose to love God and to fear God. And you be still. He’s got it from there. Of course, there’s one other thing you should always be doing: rejoice in Him and give thanks!
