“On that day, declares the LORD of hosts, I will take you…and make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you, declares the LORD of hosts” (Haggai 2:23, ESV).

The signet ring was a symbol of authority. The ring itself has no power. It’s the authority behind the ring with the power. When God makes us like a signet ring, we are the symbol of His authority, not the authority. We just represent His authority. Jesus said that all authority, in heaven and on earth, has been given to Him. He does NOT then say, and I pass it on to you; He does say, “Go, therefore.”

How can we go without the authority? Because we go as His representatives. We cannot heal. God can. We have no power over spirits, but God does. We cannot raise anyone from the dead, but God can. We can’t part the sea, but God can. We can’t save anyone’s souls, but God can.

We live in humble obedience to God. Humility is always our posture toward both God and man. Let God confirm you, honor you, expand your influence. You don’t seek those things. You seek Him and remain humble.
