From the Spirit

Mary speaks from the Holy Spirit, speaking many things from Scripture. One of the things she says is that God has helped Israel in remembrance of His mercy. God acts according to His mercy, according to His lovingkindness. It’s who He is. Love is His driving motivation.

Zechariah speaks from the Holy Spirit as well, mentioning many things from Scripture. God’s prophets speak God’s word.

There’s another discernment note for you. God’s prophets speak God’s word. Know the Bible so you know if they are speaking Bible or not. They will reference many Bible verses in their speaking. That’s different than quoting lots of verses. The devil quoted verses. I’m saying that their speech is bubbling over with Bible phrases, Biblical wisdom, Biblical truth. That’s different than quoting verses to prop up your own teaching.

Zechariah speaks of God showing promised mercy.

God fulfills promises. God shows mercy. There are things we can count on.

He speaks of being delivered from enemies, the point of which is serving God without fear and in holiness and righteousness.

We can serve God that way now. We should serve God that way now, in holiness, being set apart for His purposes, in righteousness, clothed in Christ, and with boldness from Holy Spirit filling.

Zechariah, through the Spirit, speaks of knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of sins because of God’s tender mercy.

We can’t be righteous on our own. We’ve all already lost that battle. While we can have the righteousness of Christ constraining us to do the right thing, we have previously chosen what was evil.

We need forgiveness in order to be clean, in order to be saved. There’s no holiness and righteousness and freedom from fear if there isn’t first forgiveness. God is merciful. Give thanks and praise Him.
