- Battery, size C
- Piece of aluminum foil, about a foot long
- Light bulb (get one from a flashlight)

- Fold the aluminum foil to make a strip about 12 inches long and about 1/2 inch wide.
- Sit the battery on one end of the strip.
- Hold the metal base of the light bulb to the other end of the battery.
- Complete the circuit. Touch the metal base of the light bulb with the aluminum foil strip.

- Smooth sheet of newspaper
- Smooth table top

- Lay the newspaper on the table.
- With both hands, rub it against the table.
- Lift up a corner of the paper and see what happens.
- Rub the paper with a pencil or different pieces of cloth and see what happens.
- The friction is causing electrostatic charges making the newspaper cling to the table.
