Psalm 147:11 but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love.
Does the Lord take pleasure in you? Do you know the feeling of His pleasure? Eric Liddell, Olympic athlete turned missionary, said he felt the Lord’s pleasure when he ran.
The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him and who hope in His steadfast love. What does that look like? To fear Him would mean to obey Him, to reverence Him, to worship and honor Him. One of my prayers is that I would honor God with my thoughts, words, deeds, actions and reactions.
I love the other part of that, those who hope in His steadfast love. The way to have hope in His steadfast, unchanging love for you, is to have the right kind of fear of God. It should drive you to Him. It’s believing He will still love you tomorrow, still offer forgiveness. His mercy is new every morning and enduring. His mercy, His goodness, His kindness – that’s His love for you.
