Psalm 139:7,10 ESV
,,,where shall I flee from your presence? …even there your hand shall lead me…
This always stands out to me because it talks about fleeing from God, but God is still leading. How is God leading even if we are fleeing?
Our assurance of salvation doesn’t mean we get to sin, do whatever our flesh well pleases, and still go to heaven. It means you get that devoted love. It means the Seeking Savior comes after you. It means like what we read in Haggai, that God would make things go terribly wrong as much as needed to get you turned back. Much better to live in the pleasure of His presence than flee and suffer for it, even though it’s all well within His careful leading. He’s working good. He’s always working good.
In Jeremiah 31:28 we see how God says He watched over their tearing down and their affliction. He watched over it, just as He will watch over their building up. He will always be a Shepherd to His people. He’s caring and in control.
