December 18

Habakkuk 3:18-19 yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on MY high places.

This “yet” comes after a list of troubles. Even if all this bad is happening, I will rejoice. It’s a choice. Joy is a choice. We can meditate on the works of satan, the failure, the destruction, the lack, the misery of it all and allow that to transform our hearts and minds, or we can meditate on the works of the Lord and look at His beauty and rejoice. That, by the way, is how the Lord taught me still and silent. He taught me to gaze upon His beauty (Ps. 27:4). And if we do that and obey and think on Him and all His loveliness and virtue and praiseworthiness, then that will be what transforms our hearts and minds.

He sets us up above it all. Nothing has to touch you. They are YOUR high places. There’s a place for you by His side in the heavenlies.

He is the God of your salvation. Rejoice.
