1 John 2:17 …but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
In our Daniel reading we have a powerful leader destroying many and prospering in what he does. He is broken. He can’t remain.
In 1 John 2 we read that the world is passing away along with its desires. None of it will remain. The desires of the flesh and the pride of life are going away. We can’t hold onto any of it. We shouldn’t want to.
What things of the world are you holding onto? When the Lord pulls it away, because He must since it can’t remain, will you let go or chase after it?
If the life of Christ was yours to have, would you let go of the world to cling to Jesus? What do you have hold of?
It’s the one who does the will of God who abides forever. Abide means remain. In order to remain, we need to be doing the will of God. What’s the will of God? Love God; love others. Love of self is not on the list.
When you get some time to yourself, what do you do with it? That will show you what you’re after.
