Controlled Wrath

In Revelation 7, the wrath begins. The winds are held back. God has power and is in control. We don’t fear the stuff that could happen. We fear God.

Angels are given the assignment to harm the earth and sea. But there’s a separation. God makes a distinction. God seals His servants. They will be shielded from the wrath coming.

Here’s my limited-view understanding. At this point, I believe the Christians have been raptured. That certainly includes Jews and every tribe and tongue.

But, when Jesus returns, sky rolled back and all, people are going to notice. There are those looking for the Messiah to come. They are going to see Him. They will look on the one they have pierced and mourn. That’s a prophecy from Zechariah 12.

They will mourn. They will realize who the Messiah is. They will repent. They will be saved, but it’s going to look different. They are there in the midst of the trouble. They will be sealed. They will be kept. They will be preserved. The Lord will be their shield and provision.

144,000 is a symbolic number. It doesn’t have to mean that many people.

We’re then immediately told of a multitude, more than could be numbered, in heaven before the throne. The 144,000 has nothing to do with the number of people saved. The Bible makes it clear; the number of those saved can’t even be counted.

Those praising God before the throne shouting, “Salvation belongs to our God!” are dressed in white robes.

We’re told this innumerable throng are those who came out of the great tribulation. Their robes are white by the washing of the blood of the Lamb.

They serve God day and night and never again will be hungry or thirsty or hot. The Lamb will shepherd them and guide them to living water.

There will be no more tears.
