Christ Our Wisdom

“The foolishness of God is wiser than men and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” Of course, God is neither foolish nor weak. Paul is making a point that the “best” of man doesn’t touch God in any way. We’re fools to think we are wise.

God chooses the foolish and the weak. There’s no boasting in being chosen by God. It means you are foolish and weak. Effective servants of God know that is very true.

God chooses what is low and despised, the nothings.

The wise and powerful need to humble themselves to hear God’s servants.

No one boasts in God’s presence. God rescues the humble. God’s making a way for our salvation in all this. He exalts Himself because we need to look to Him for salvation. It’s out of love. God’s motivation is always love.

And then we have this verse, summing up our salvation in a huge way. Jesus became to us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.

He is our salvation. He is our life. He is our holiness, so it can’t be lacking. He is our righteousness, so it is spotless. He is our redemption, so all things are made new. He is our wisdom, so we are never wise in our own eyes.

We have all this perfection in the new man. We have all this perfection in His divine nature that we get to become partakers of in Christ.

It’s all ours by faith. Believe you are saved! By faith we put off the old and put on the new. God does the work, so put your faith in Him to transform you.

It is “of Him” that you are in Christ. You are in Christ by God’s choice. You are in Christ by God’s keeping. Rejoice and believe!

All our boasting is in Christ. It’s all from Him and for Him. To God be the glory!
