Cast Truth Down

Daniel 8 seems to be a description of the time we think we understand as the Antichrist ruling the world.

It’s described that “through his cunning he shall cause deceit to prosper under his rule.”

We’re told he will cast truth down.

I have been praying for truth, praying for God to shine His light and expose what is true and what is false. There’s a lot of false in the church.

This chapter in Daniel talks about how this ruler didn’t act in his own power. We know that the power behind this deceit and falsehood is the devil. He sometimes comes brazenly just set on imprisoning and killing God’s people. He sometimes comes sneakily, twisting truths little by little.

How can we be defenders of truth? It’s not easy. People like their lies!

First, we need to know the truth. We need to learn from God Himself teaching us His word.

Second, we need to speak the truth in love. Love must be the compelling reason to share truth. Without love we’re just clanging gongs and who is going to be able to hear?

Thirdly, we need to live the truth. We have to live what we believe and be a living testimony to the truth of God’s word and the salvation He offers.

This chapter doesn’t just say that he will cast down truth but also that he will destroy the holy people.

There is comfort for us though, in that “at the appointed time the end shall be” and that he will be broken “not by human means.”

Jesus wins in the end and the end will come. Hallelujah! Come quickly, Lord Jesus!
