Car Ride Games

Our family played this just the other week sitting in our living room, no car needed. We made up a story by each person adding just one word. Every once in awhile, we retold the story from the beginning, everyone helping out with remembering.

Of course, you can make up a story by adding a phrase or sentence at a time and not just a word.

You can take turns coming up with a book title. Then the others get to come up with what the plot of the book would be.

You can play, “Guess That Song,” with humming.

You can take turns being asked questions. If mom starts, then everyone gets to ask her one question that she has to answer.

Word list: Say a word. The next person says a word that starts with the letter the previous word ended with.

Memory: Make a list together. “I went to the park and I brought…” Each person repeats the whole thing and adds one more word. If you want to make it easier to remember, use the next letter in the alphabet for the next word.

You can add some school in by saying you are listing nouns. You can change it up and say, “I went to the park and I…” and list verbs. You could go to the park and see a … “thing” and list adjectives. You could go to the park and see someone … playing and list adverbs.

If you are traveling any distance, you could print out a map of the US and color in states when you see their license plate. You could draw on your route as well.

20 Questions: One person picks a noun (person, place or thing) and the others get 20 questions, all together, to try and figure out what it is. Only yes or no questions are allowed.

Take turns asking Would You Rather questions.

Pick an object and random word and whenever anyone spots that object, they shout the random word.

Be the music. All together, freestyle a song with or without lyrics.
