Then man prays to God, and he accepts him…and he restores to man his righteousness. …‘I sinned and perverted what was right, and it was not repaid to me. He has redeemed my soul from going down into the pit, and my life shall look upon the light.’ “Behold, God does all these things, twice, three times, with a man, to bring back his soul from the pit, that he may be lighted with the light of life.
Proverbs 33:26-30 ESV
Life from death. Revived. The way to revival is repentance. Confess how you’ve sinned against what was right. Acknowledge God’s mercy. Pray to God and have righteousness restored. He delights to show mercy. He will restore light to your life.
I like the phrase “lighted with the light of life.” He sets us aflame with His life.
Elihu had fire in his bones. “I must speak, that I may find relief” (Job 32:20). I know the feeling of being ready to burst. I have actually even interrupted two sermons because I couldn’t contain the fire in my belly. Don’t mock God’s word or disparage God’s children in front of me, repeatedly! I eventually won’t be able to hold it in.
If you aren’t living in the righteousness of Christ, confess. Pray. It’s yours for the taking. Walk in the Light and be cleansed from all unrighteousness. Let Him set you on fire for His kingdom.
