“Good morning, Lord. This is Your day. I am Your child. Show me Your way.” I learned that prayer from my mom’s best friend when she taught it during a children’s sermon. I think I might have been in college at the time and just in the pew, but I took on the prayer and prayed it thousands of times as I was waking up and getting out of bed.
Psalm 25 is unique in its repeated prayers for guidance, especially having three requests right in a row in verses 4 and 5.
4 Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths.
5 Lead me in your truth and teach me,
…
8 Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in the way.
9 He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way.
10 All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.
Our part is to be humble and to look to Him and to fear Him.
14 The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant.
15 My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for he will pluck my feet out of the net.
He doesn’t want to just point us in the right direction. He wants us to go with Him. He wants to invite us into intimate friendship that we would know Him and His ways.
