Armor

Children, honor and obey your parents. God didn’t mess up in giving you your parents. Complaining against them is complaining against God’s choice for you. Honor God and honor your parents. Thank them. Listen to them. Help them. Be a blessing.

Fathers, discipline your children in gentleness to instruct them.

Serve your bosses with sincerity as unto Christ, and bosses, don’t threaten your workers.

We are to be strong in the Lord.

We don’t have strength. Don’t try to get strength by arming yourself. We don’t save ourselves by our own sword (Ps. 44:3).

We are strong in the Lord. He is our strength. I don’t “dress myself” every morning in my armor. That makes no sense. I don’t have to keep putting on my helmet of salvation. I am saved. I am clothed in my salvation already.

We have a belt of truth. I read my Bible daily, taking in truth and reminding myself of truth. Jesus is THE Truth, and I am in Christ, so I am always “wearing” truth just as I am salvation.

Jesus is my righteousness, so I am always wearing my breastplate of righteousness if I am in Christ.

I don’t really know what the shoes are except being prepared to share the gospel of peace. We need to have it to give it. If you have Jesus, then you have Jesus to share.

We’re told to take up the shield of faith. Faith is a gift. He gives you faith. Ask for faith if you are feeling a lack. And keep reading His word to be built up in faith by knowing what is true about your God.

We’re to take the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. And what are we supposed to do? It doesn’t say to swing it. It doesn’t say to “declare it.” It says to pray. God fights. Our battle is in prayer. We pray. Ask God to fight. Ask God to be your strength to stand. Ask God to hold you fast, unmovable.

May He keep you loving Him with an incorruptible love.
