Ever been accused? Ever been accused falsely? It will certainly happen to you as a Christian. It’s a way we get to fellowship with Christ in His sufferings. He was certainly falsely accused. And, rightly accused.
He was accused of not paying taxes. We have two stories about Jesus and taxes. One time He basically tells everyone to pay their taxes, telling them to give to Caesar what is Caesar’s.
Another time He gets His tax payment out of a fish’s mouth. He didn’t think it was a rightful tax, but He paid it anyway. He was still accused.
He was accused rightly of making Himself out to be God.
Either time He doesn’t defend Himself. He holds His peace. God, His Father, was His defense. God allows circumstances. We don’t have to fight them. It’s best to be like Jesus and keep your mouth closed.
When you are accused, remember who the accuser is. Our enemy is not flesh and blood. Don’t hold it against them. They are being used by the devil. Accusations are an old trick. They go back to the Garden of Eden. Satan has old tricks.
It’s good to be wise to his general ways. He wants to put out the light of Christ in you. He will want you to sin.
He wants to keep you from walking with the Lord; he will distract you. He will try to get you looking at yourself instead of the Lord.
He will also work to divide. Don’t listen to negative talk about others. Satan is trying to divide. Love others. Forgive others. Don’t take offense at others. Bear with others. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.
The only way we get that kind of only always loving is by the Holy Spirit working in and through us. We receive from God the love we give. We learn the life of love from Jesus.
We get it through our “right of access,” like Joshua the high priest gets when his sins are removed. Through Christ’s life and death and resurrection we have boldness to approach the throne and receive and give and learn love.
