Paul knew there was an island they need to run aground on. They found it because God got them there. He had prepared a place for them. The people showed unusual kindness.
Paul is bitten by a snake, but it does not harm him. While I do believe we can have that physical protection from God, we also have the spiritual protection. Satan is trying to get Paul. He is behind the ambush. He is behind the soldiers wanting to kill Paul. He could have been behind the stormy sea. He could have been behind the snake bite. Paul just shakes it off.
You shake it off. It can’t harm you. It felt like harm being in that storm. But it wasn’t. God doesn’t harm us. That doesn’t mean there’s no suffering. Growing pains are painful. We’re growing up in Christ. There is struggle. There is suffering. There is no harm. There is grace and glory.
God shows Himself mighty to save through it all. God is glorified and Paul is given honor in the eyes of many. They are ready to listen to him now, whereas before they weren’t.
Paul learns of a need and heals a man on the island. Then everyone on the island is cured. The kingdom had come. Wherever we go, the kingdom goes with us. We should be leaving marks of the kingdom wherever we are.
Paul is a prisoner, yet he lives free. His captors don’t have the real power over Paul.
God has things in hand. As they travel, Paul is free to spend time with the believers.
When they reach Rome, Paul is allowed his own private accommodations. He has a soldier with him, but to Paul that’s another audience for the gospel.
Paul has traveled and traveled and walked and walked. He was escorted to all these places where he stood trial, and now he stays put. He gets a time of rest. He’s unhindered in sharing the gospel. God makes a way.
