Watch and Beware

We’re to watch out and beware of the teachings of man. We’re to beware of setting our mind on the things of man. We’re to beware of trying to save our lives.

Man. Man. Self.

We need to not seek from or for man. The best way to keep from doing those things is to be doing the right thing.

We need to turn to the teaching of God and His word. We need to keep our mind on Christ and His word. And we need to surrender our rights to our lives.

God. His Word. Death of self.

We deny ourselves. We don’t defend ourselves, protect ourselves, nourish ourselves, pamper ourselves. We don’t seek our own care, rest, provision, etc. We give up. We give ourselves into the loving hands of our Father and let Him care for us. We look to Him for our salvation daily, for our every need.

Our greatest need is God Himself. We need Him. We need Him for our daily bread, our sustaining.

If you are putting off, putting aside, skipping time reading the Bible for yourself, you are starving yourself. In seeking “your life,” you are killing yourself. Give up the entertainments and concerns of the world and turn to the Word and be fed and live.

Look for the warning signs. Missing daily time in prayer and Bible study is certainly one warning sign you should watch out for and should cause you to beware.

Don’t follow a certain teacher exclusively. Jesus is the exception to that! No one person has all truth. Take what the Lord is giving you through them, and leave the rest. Maybe at another time there will be more for you there, but no teacher is the bearer of all truth.

Beware any teacher giving you the how-to. If you are reading a book or blog to decide what to do, BEWARE. You are seeking in the wrong place. Live in relationship with Jesus and let Him lead and guide you continuously. Jesus is your teacher, not man.

Watch and pray that you might stand in the evil day.
