Mayan warriors were very important to their cities because Mayan cities were often at war with each other. Warriors used stone or wooden weapons. They also used bows and arrows. The warriors created and carried shields made of wood and feathers. They enjoyed creating their own shields or dressing up an old one with new feathers or designs.
Battles were only fought during the day with a temporary peace being called each night. The battles would only end when the leader of one army was either hurt or killed. The losers had to pay tribute to the winners, be it people, goods, gold and silver, or even salt.
