What is the message of the false prophet? “It will be well with you.”

What is the message of the modern gospel? “It will be well with you.”

The modern gospel message is that God will help your life. God’s got blessing for you. God’s got peace for you. God’s got provision for you. God’s got abounding forgiveness for you. God sees your raised hand and has promised that nothing will snatch you out of His. Your salvation is secure.

I believe my salvation is secure. I’m not against assurance of salvation, but I am against assuring people of salvation who love their sin.

God is pointing out that this message of well-being is going to those who are stubborn in choosing their own ways and desires and who continually despise God’s word. These are not people who messed up. These are people who have chosen self over God. They made their choice.

Preachers today who give the message of easy grace haven’t gotten their message from God. They have gotten it from the doctrine of man. One who speaks on behalf of God needs to get God’s words. They need to stand in His council and see and hear His word, and as the Lord points out, they have to pay attention and listen too!

There is nestled in here a good word for those who do go to God and get His word, that if they speak His word faithfully, the people will turn from their ways.

God’s word is powerful. God describes it like a fire and a hammer. Only His word can turn a heart, turn a nation. All of our cleverness and eloquence can never do it. His word alone has the power.
