Ecclesiastes 5:20 ESV …occupied with joy in his heart.

2 Cor. 7:4 …I am overflowing with joy.

Full of joy. How can that be our life’s lot? In Ecclesiastes it was talking again about man rejoicing in his toil, that it was a gift from God. It talked about man accepting his lot. Paul was saying that he was overflowing with joy in the midst of his affliction. Where is the joy coming from? He loved his job. He accepted his lot. He knew he had a beautiful inheritance and the Lord would maintain his lot. He wasn’t constantly trying to figure out ways to get out of his situation. He accepted where God had put him. He knew that he could deal with all circumstances through Christ who gave him strength.

There is joy in contentment, in acceptance. There is doctrine of man out there that will tell you to fight. God says, rest. Be satisfied. “Am I not good?” Can’t we trust that He’s good and doing things perfectly? What He’s doing is exactly what we want done. Give thanks. Always. Rejoice. Always.

We have another reason to be full of joy. In His presence is fullness of joy. 2 Cor. 6 talked about God dwelling and walking with you if you separated yourself, holy unto the Lord. Be His.
