Isaiah 38:14 ESV …My eyes are weary with looking upward…
Here’s a call to persevere in prayer and to wait on the Lord. He will answer. This calls for belief in the sovereignty of God, not just that He hears and answers our prayers but that He has His ways and timing in things. We want His perfect plan, not our subpar ideations.
We can know we’ll have our answers to prayers if our hearts don’t condemn us before the Father. If that’s so, then we know “whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him” (1 John 3:22). And we can wait with eager expectation. “But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance” (Rom. 8:25 NKJV).
Prayer is the weapon of your warfare. And it calls for perseverance. “Pray in the Spirit at all times, with every kind of prayer and petition. To this end, stay alert with all perseverance in your prayers for all the saints” (Eph. 6:18 BSB).
There’s a reward for sowing into the Spirit, salvation, not just for yourself, but for those you lift up.
Gal. 6:8-9 …the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Persevere.
