“Even the darkness is not dark to You, And the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You” (Psalm 139:12, NASB 1995).
Jesus is the light of the world. When Jesus is present, there is no darkness. Did you get that? There is no darkness! We’re afraid of the dark, but there is no darkness in Christ. There is no reason to fear. There is no darkness, wherever you are, because you are in Christ. He makes you the light of the world.
There is no darkness where you are. In Christ it all becomes light. His light shines and turns all darkness into light. Let’s talk about this a different way. Another way to say it would be Romans 8:28, how God uses all things for our good, those of us who love Him and are called according to His purposes. He can take any evil plot of the devil (throwing Joseph in a well, killing Jesus, arresting Paul), and turn it into something for our good and His glory, and use it to carry out His purposes and further His kingdom.
When you get the bad report, the horrible news, the evil accusation, don’t see the darkness. Let Christ’s light shine through and shed light on the situation. There is no darkness there, just an opportunity to let Christ’s light shine and transform it into glorious light.
Light produces shadows, and there are those who flee from the light. The world won’t all be light until Christ returns and sets up a new earth, where He, Himself, is its light and there is no more night. So, the darkness will be out there, but it won’t be where you are. It can’t be. If you are in Christ and Christ is in you, you are the light of the world. Darkness can’t exist where you are. Be encouraged and turn your face to the light. It all becomes beautiful in the light of Christ. Sometimes it just takes longer to see it.
