Ps. 78:29  And they ate and were well filled, for he gave them what they craved.

Do you recognize that as a curse, when God gives you what you crave? That is, if it’s not Him you are longing for.

It’s a biblical principle that God gives people what they want. I have prayed many times over the years that God wouldn’t let me ask for a king. The Israelites ask for a king, wanting to be like the nations around them and rejecting God alone as their king, and He gives it to them.

To get your heart right and to get free of the cravings of earthly appetites, it needs to be circumcised.

Col. 2:11-12 …by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, having been buried with him in baptism…

The body of flesh and its cravings must go. We accomplish it through faith in the name of Jesus because other ways we strive through works of religion “are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh” (Col. 2:23).
