Jer. 51:55-56 For the Lord is laying Babylon waste and stilling her mighty voice. The waves roar like many waters; the noise of their voice is raised, for a destroyer has come…
In Psalm 65 it talks about the Lord stilling the noise of the waves and the tumult of the people. That’s what came to mind as I read about the Lord stilling the voice of Babylon by sending a destroyer. The Lord is clothed in power. He is gracious and merciful and slow to anger, but He does get angry.
Jer. 52:3 For because of the anger of the Lord it came to the point in Jerusalem and Judah that he cast them out from his presence.
In Jeremiah 31 we read about the returning and rejoicing. God is gracious and merciful. We even get this note about one of the evil kings of Judah.
Jer. 52:33 So Jehoiachin put off his prison garments. And every day of his life he dined regularly at the king’s table.
What’s our response? Know Him.
Ps. 100:3-4 Know that the Lord, he is God!..Give thanks to him; bless his name!
